I’ve removed the previous post, not because of harassment and threats from the individual mentioned, because obviously he should know that kind of behavior is not an appropriate way to talk to friends, family, strangers and certainly not clients. Instead I have chosen to remove it because I don’t want this incident to trouble my extended family any more than it unfortunately already has. They have unintentionally been pulled into this drama as well, and I do not wish to contribute to their concern or stress because they have always been gracious and kind.

I know of this guy and none of this is a surprise. This was painful to read and I’m sorry that you are related to such an individual. I appreciate that you took the time to report on such behavior which seems sociopathic and/or psychotic. It’s too bad that this individual has a presence in Sacramento. He had made life miserable for a few people in Sac who do not “worship” him. Thanks.

Thank you, Thank you!! We were going to send our puppy for boot camp(2k)… NOT NOW!!!!! It’s not the fee either, it’s the reviews here and on other sites! Wow, I can’t believe what a good talk he talks! AWFUL!! Does anyone have any good recommendations? Sure appreciate any help.

I wouldn’t worry about using a dog trainer or classes. I have been using Don Sullivans’s dog training dvds and dog collar all this month on my dog. From day one he stopped pulling when I walked him. The dvds really give you the right tools to make a hyper active dog such as mine pay attention. I still have a long way to go but hes much easier to handle now. The collar has rectangle teeth that nips their neck simulating the way a mother dog bits a puppies neck to make the puppy behave. Also the ultimate goal that Don Sullivan is trying to help you accomplish is to be able to train your dog to obey you off leash. You’ll be able to walk by any distraction without your dog going nuts or trying to fight.

Cindi, I would NOT use Don Sullivan’s training method. It’s based on aversives and that’s the worst way to train a dog. If you don’t like the look of Salem, stay far away from Sullivan as well. I’d look for training classes or trainers who base their philosophy in positive reinforcement. Training should be enjoyable for both you AND the dog and the dog is not going to find being jerked around by some plastic choke chain fun.
Sullivan, like Salem, is just looking to make a quick buck off a gimmick.
