As you may notice, its been about a month and half since I’ve updated this here bloggerizel. Well a lot has been going on lately. But we’ll start from the earlier I can remember.
Late January there was this joining of two cool goofy friends, Ben and Evelyn to form the power of Bevelyn! Their wedding went down in old Alabama town in downtown Montgomery, AL in this ancient church. It had a great setting, purdy and lots of friends and people I didn’t know. There was a slide show of the two, great stuff. Ben’s father even made a whole bunch of these flower holder things for everyone to take home and remember that day. Congrats to you two and to your soon to be daughter.
Next thing I can remember was on the weekend of Feb 9 and 10. Me and my friend Crystal went to the Atlanta Comic Expo aka ACE in Atlanta, GA. It was a blast. Drove up there Saturday morning from the Ham of Birming and took aboot 2 hours and we were there. Parked and went to the expo and we nerd’d out. People dressed up as characters, nerds everywhere, there were even a few girls there (maybe 1 girl for ever 10 guys, haha) and the cool artists. Walked around and saw some cool stuff, bought a few things, went to a couple workshops (one about props and the other about corsettes) and went to a few events. First event we went to was the Dr. Someones Superhero vs. Supervillain challenge. Cosplayer’s (for those who don’t know, people who like to dress up as characters) got on the stage and had to go through several challenges in order to win. The cosplayers were: Mr. Frost (I think), Jean grey, Spiderman, Some made up person, Multiple man (lame) and a couple others I can’t remember right now. First challenge consisted of dodging “bullets” which were sticky darts and they had to dodge them with style even tho no really didn’t have any style, haha. Second, they had to gather “plutonium” from this box thing and if they hit the sides they would get blasted by air. Third challenge, they had to put on this rock armor suit (carved/glued foam and painted, pretty rad) with these big hands and transport monster eggs (aka giant bouncy balls, kinda like the ones you work out with), and there might have been one more, but I don’t remember. That was quite interesting. We walked around looking at stuff and seeing more strangers and stuff. They even had an exact (well nearly exact, had a cd player and different seat belts) replica of the original bat mobile (in the gallery). Later on we went to the Costume contest to see a bunch of cosplayers, some with great costumes, walk around on stage and pose. My favorite was ball man, you’ll see in the picture gallery. After the contest we left the hotel and went over to little five points pizza in little five points for some oooooooooooooh so good calzones!!!! I want more!! Awesome little pizza place, if you’re ever in the area of little five points, go there, so worth it and right down the way is a cool ass comic/cd shop called Criminal Records and a bunch of other lil cool stores. So we went back and went to the costume ball (techno music and cosplayers) and it was pretty much empty, maybe 15 people, it was sad. We were gathered up by some random guy to go play an interesting game of “DO YOU WORSHIP CTHULU” and it turned out to be fun, but we left after one game and headed to bed. Next day was more artist checking out and talking. We later headed home. Was great. Thanks for going with me Crystal, next we’re going to Omega Con in Birmingham, anyone wanna go, March 14-16 (http://portal.omegacon.us).

Now this. For those of you who know or dont know, a F3 Tornado hit my town of Prattville, AL on February 17, 2008. I was home with my mom when it happend. Started the day out with some bad weather. Just like any other bad weather we didn’t think much of it, so we were both casually laying around all day even during sirens, thinking we’ve never had a tornado, it’ll just pass. Well around 3:00 pm I was in the kitchen (wearing shorts, for those of you who read my post on myspace) making a grill cheese. Just as I was finishing up I noticed that the rain and wind were picking up and I thought to myself, “hey, maybe I should go put some pants on in case something happens”, so I proceeded to my room. Well the power goes out and I tell my half awake mom and she’s just like, so what the powers out, that happens sometimes when it rains. So I’m in my room putting pants on and I get them on and noticed that the wind started going nuts and I just said “OH SHIT” ran to the hallway just going oh shit, oh shit, oh shit then yelled for my mom and said get in here now I think tornados coming. She jumped from the couch and dove into the hallway with me, holding onto each other as it sounded like the roof was about to leave the house, crazy ass cracking and banging noised, but not the famous train sound. It was over in less than a minute. We got up and looked around and I was shaking like crazy and could barely talk, the house for the most part in the hallway was intact. There was a 2×4 through the wall in the bathroom, we walked to the living room and stuff was blown over. We open the front door, it’s quiet and calm outside, we both were stunned. It looked like bombs had gone off in front of our house. Houses ruined, trees down, cars smashed, debri everywhere and people also out walking around. Thankfully no one in our area was hurt. Our house was damaged pretty good. Large section of the center roof had been ripped off and several other areas were exposed. Some rooms inside had holes in the ceilings, water damage on the ceiling, broken windows and insulation covering everything inside and out. See my pictures for the Chaos.

So after all this, my family (me, mom and dad) are currently living in apartments in Prattville. Insurance is taking care of pretty much everything. House repairs will begin soon. Our estimated move in time is about 3-6 months. We’ll pretty much be getting a new house with some old stuff still there. In the Tornado craziness, both my car and my mothers car were totaled. Mom is in the process of getting a new car with the money she received from her old car (from insurance) and help from my grandfather. I’m driving my brothers old civic since he got him a new one. We’re doing alright. Just gotta wait now…
Thanks for all the thoughts and what not from everyone. Everyones been great and supportive helping us out.
Well thats it for now, time for bed and work in the AM. Then the weekend, maybe something fun.
